OMAHA, Neb. -- Authorities in the metro area arrested a 17-year-old for having a gun on a high school campus. 

The Omaha Police Department arrested a 17-year-old boy for possessing a gun on school grounds at North High School. 

OPD said that around 12:15 p.m. Thursday, the School Resource Officer at Omaha North High School had radioed for assistance in regards to a disturbance with a student armed with a gun who ran from the school. 

It was reported that Patrol officers in uniform arrived and quickly took the teen suspect into custody. 

OPD said the suspect will be booked at Douglas County Youth Center for possession of a firearm on school grounds.
