Vikings outscore the Cowboys in road win
Gettler (28) and Grebin's (19) huge scoring night lead Stanton over Sidney.

SIDNEY, Iowa - The game didn't start with fireworks in the opening minutes, but later in the first quarter and for seemingly the rest of the night, Sidney and Stanton operated at a high level offensively in a high-scoring contest Tuesday night in Sidney.
The Vikings had three scorers reach double figures as they scorched the nets on the road in a 74-61 win.
It was 17-13 after one quarter of play with Stanton in the lead, and sophomore Evan Gettler was just getting started. Gettler hit two 3-pointers on his way to 14 points in the first half. Guard Nolan Grebin was also impressive with eight first-half points. His three-point play with 1:58 left in the opening half put Stanton up 31-25.
The Cowboys (3-6, 1-4) received baskets from seven different players in the opening half, but they trailed by five at the break.
In the third quarter, the referees began to get involved, whistling a total of 13 fouls that allowed for numerous free throw attempts the rest of the game. Many of those free throws came from Sidney's Braedon Godfread. He made six free throws in the second half on his way to a team-high 19 points.
Gettler, who featured a quick release on his jumper and a fearlessness when it came to shooting the ball, got loose for two more 3-pointers in the third to give Stanton (6-3, 5-1) a 53-46 lead heading to the fourth. He finished with six 3-pointers and a game-high 28 points to lead the Vikings.
Sidney was forced into a timeout with 5:30 to go in the game when Gavin Ford scored on a three-point play and Josh Martin hit a tough turnaround jumper to push the lead to 60-52. The lead was at six for the Vikings when Grebin scored with a scoop layup and then got a steal with another lay in with 3 minutes to play.
The Vikings hit 19 free throws with most coming in the waning minutes to come away with a 13-point win on the road. Godfread had 19 for the Cowboys and Nik Peters quietly finished with 10 points.
Grebin, Martin and Gettler combined for 60 of Stanton's 74 points.
