ATCHISON, Kan. - The city of Atchison is ordering water conservation due to low flows on the Missouri River
A press release from the city says record-low levels have limited the ability to draw sufficient amounts of water to meet the normal demand. Atchison rural water district No. 1 is also impacted.
The city is ordering households to use water only what is required to maintain health and hygiene. These uses include cooking, bathing and doing laundry.
Water levels are expected to remain low for two to three more days as the second ice jam makes it way down from Nebraska.
