OMAHA, Neb. -- A man from Omaha received prison time after he was convicted of his second child pornography offense.
Acting U.S. Attorney Steven Russell said 39-year-old Jeffrey Rongish, of Omaha, was sentenced on Friday. Rongish was charged for accessing with intent to view child pornography and will serve 10 years of in prison. There is no parole in the federal system. Rongish will be under supervised release for 15 years after his release from prison and he will continue to register as a sex offender.
According to court documents, Rongish was previously convicted in the District of Nebraska in 2014 for receiving child pornography. While on supervised release, Rongish told his probation officer on Nov. 23, 2020 that he had started viewing images of child pornography.
Officials said they seized Rongish's electronic devices in a search on March 2, 2021. They found the presence of file wiping software and artifacts of child pornography confirming that child pornography websites had been accessed and viewed.
This case was investigated by the Omaha FBI’s Child Exploitation and Human Trafficking Task Force.
