OMAHA - The Omaha Public Power District’s operation plan for 2023 does not include a general rate increase, but there is an adjustment for rising costs of fuel and purchased power.
Residential customers should expect a 2.5 percent increase in the adjustment effective Jan. 1.
The energy sector has seen a year-over-year inflation of 17.6 percent as of October, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. Despite an average inflation rate of 8 percent, the utility is not proposing changes to its general electric rate in its $1.9 billion budget.
Expenses include funds for the decommissioning of the Fort Calhoun Station by the end of 2024.
The board awarded a $3.7 million contract to Mandros Painting for Nebraska City Station unit 2.
