Sexual assault allegations under investigation in Peru, Humboldt
PERU – Law enforcement agencies in Richardson and Nemaha counties are investigating separate cases alleging sexual assault in October.
A Peru teenager told investigators she used social media to try and find a buyer for alcohol. She said she went to a residence several blocks north of the Peru State College campus and was offered a drink of what she thought was alcohol. She said she felt sick right away and went to the bathroom hoping to recover. She said she tried to leave when she regained consciousness, but was persuaded not to leave with the suggestion that she lay down to rest.
The woman described a sexual assault to authorities.
She said the attacker also held her face to her phone to get through the passcode and made a transaction from her bank account using a cash app.
Nemaha County sheriff’s deputies were called to CHI Health St. Mary’s, where the woman went for treatment.
Richardson County sheriff’s deputies are investigating a sexual assault allegation in Humboldt.
A woman told investigators that we was lured to a man’s residence on false pretense and was victimized by a sexual assault.
Deputies searched the Humboldt residence looking for DNA evidence.
There are no charges filed in court for either case.
