OMAHA, Neb. -- It was announced Thursday by Ho-Chunk Inc. that WarHorse Gaming was issued a second license for a location in Omaha.

The Nebraska Racing and Gaming Commission issued WarHorse the license on Tuesday, securing a future for WarHorse Omaha.

“This is a massive step forward,” said Lance Morgan, Ho-Chunk, Inc. President and CEO, “With the license, we’re now able to get the $700 million in financing needed to fully renovate and build out the casinos in both Lincoln and Omaha. It’s a very big day for Ho-Chunk, Inc., our partner the Horsemen, and the Winnebago Tribe.”

Ho-Chunk said that the construction for the Omaha casino is already underway, with infrastructure updates taking place on Q Street.

A phased opening of Warhorse Omaha is planned for early 2024.

“Omaha’s initial opening will feature more than 800 slots and a variety of table games,” said Morgan. “Its construction is much more substantial, so it will take a little longer before we enter the market. But WarHorse Omaha will be much larger than Lincoln initially as a result.”
