Army colonel sets retirement ceremony in Nebraska City
Ceremony scheduled at 4 p.m. Saturday along Veterans Day weekend events at renovated Veterans Memorial Building

NEBRASKA CITY - A former U.S. Military Academy graduate at West Point and commander of an airborne division is holding his retirement ceremony in Nebraska City.
Col. Derek Thomson, a 1991 graduate of Nebraska City High School , served as commander of the 1st Brigade 101st Airborne Division.
His retirement ceremony from the U.S. Army is scheduled at 4 p.m. at the Veterans Memorial Building on Saturday, Nov.12.
The public ceremony is part of events planned over the Veterans Day weekend for the grand re-opening of the Veterans Memorial Building.
