OTOE - Sunday was a popular primer for Halloween, with trunk or treats at Nebraska City and Otoe.
The Otoe park is known as the location of the annual BBQ, but committee member Angela Parsons thought a trunk or treat would keep the activities going into the fall.

It started with a Facebook message and she said soon the whole community came alive for the event.
There were 30 trunks in the park decorated from Jonah’s whale to a scary cemetery. St. John’s Church served sloppy joes and drinks at the “cook shack.”

Area daycare providers sponsored a trunk or treat in the sunken parking lot on Central Sunday afternoon.
Tiffany Walker, early childhood community coordinator for Otoe County, said providers suggested a trunk or treat and formed a group on Facebook.
Walker said it was a great turnout for a first year.

Walker: “The providers are getting great community engagement. They are able to get their names out there and really just show community support too. “
Elsa and Shrek trunks were in the top running among voters for best trunk.
