OMAHA, Neb. -- The Nebraska State Patrol held surprise commercial vehicle inspections in Douglas County on Wednesday
Officials said the Metropolitan Aggressive and Prevention Selective (MAPS) Team performed 46 vehicle inspections and issued 125 violations of Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations and state law.
NSP said declared 17 vehicles were out of service, meaning they are not allowed to return to the road. Being placed on out of service can be due to bad brakes or tires, or other problems that pose immediate safety risks. Five drivers were also deemed out of service.
According to authorities, the inspections are meant to focus on commercial vehicles that normally don't travel outside the city or pass-through weigh stations.
