OMAHA, Neb. -- A 21-year-old man was sentenced on Wednesday to more than 11 years in prison for conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine.

Acting United States Attorney Steven A. Russell announced 21-year-old Francisco Javier Martinez-Mungia was sentenced on Wednesday in federal court in Omaha for conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute meth.

The U.S. District Judge sentenced Martinez-Mungia to prison for 135 months. After his release from prison, he will begin a 5-year term of supervised release. There is no parole in the federal system.

Court documents said that Martinez-Mungia will likely be deported by U.S. immigration authorities when he completes his prison sentence.

In May 2021, Francisco Martinez-Mungia became involved in a drug conspiracy distributing meth in Omaha.

A confidential source (CS) working for the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) arranged the purchase of meth from co-defendant Roberto Balbuena-Ignacio.

On May 20, 2021, the CS met with co-defendant Cash C. Cosgriff, and successfully bought about a pound of meth.

The CS also conducted controlled purchases of meth on at least three other occasions from other members of the drug conspiracy.

On Aug. 2, 2021, Martinez-Mungia was arrested after leaving a residence in the 19th block of south 10th St., in Omaha.

Investigators with the DEA and Omaha Police Department recovered about 56.6 pounds of meth and 2 kilograms of cocaine from that residence.

Co-defendant Roberto Garcia-Gutierrez was sentenced on Oct. 12, 2022.

The cases against co-defendants Ignacio-Balbuena and Cosgriff remain pending.

This case was investigated primarily by the Drug Enforcement Administration and Omaha Police Department.
