Bond upheld for arson suspect

NEBRASKA CITY – A county court judge upheld a $100,000 bond for a Nebraska City man charged with arson in a case investigators described as a plan to harm people listed on the Nebraska sex offender registration.
Public Defender Michael Ziskey asked the judge to release 19-year-old Seth Buller on pre-trial release with only a signature bond. He noted that Buller has no criminal record, had been working before his arrest and has family ties in Nebraska City.
Otoe County Attorney Jennifer Panko Rahe said the $100,000 bond is appropriate.
Panko Rahe: “Buller made a plan to cause harm to the victim in this case and attempted to follow through on the plan.”
She said the plan was improvised to set fire to the victim’s garage.
Judge David Partsch said based on the seriousness of the arson and burglary charges, Buller presents a risk to the victims and the public.
Court records say Buller told investigators he chose the location because the address appeared on Nebraska’s sex offender registration. Police say an anonymous caller tipped off law enforcement, saying Buller was bragging that he would take care of all sex offenders and burn their houses.
