River Country golfers qualify for state championships Monday

NEBRASKA CITY - District girl's golf teed off this week around the state and players from around River Country shot well enough to qualify for the state championships next Monday and Tuesday.

The Class A championships are at the Norfolk Country Club with Class B at Monument Shadows in Gering, Neb., and Class C at Elks Country Club in Columbus. The first round tees off at 9 a.m. both days.

Here are the results for River Country athletes and schools by class.

Class B-1: Table Creek Golf Course in Nebraska City

Featuring schools from Nebraska City, Platteview and Plattsmouth, the B-1 district saw four golfers qualify for state with host Nebraska City qualifying three and Platteview qualifying one. None of the schools qualified as a team. 

Ella Welsh of Nebraska City shot an 86 and finished third individually directed by coach Scott Kinnison. The three schools finished in fourth, fifth and sixth respectively.

Class C-1: Hidden Valley Golf Club in Lincoln:

Six River Country schools competed at Lincoln Christian in C-1, but it was only Auburn and Ashland-Greenwood sending qualifiers to state. Jamisyn Kirkpatrick of Auburn shot an 87 to place third with Ellie Whitehead of AG not far behind, shooting an 88. Olivia Lovegrove of Lincoln Christian shot a district-best 65.
