OMAHA, Neb. -- A man died after crashing his car in Omaha on Saturday.

The Omaha Police Department said police were dispatched to 72nd St. and Pine St. around 7:00 a.m. on the report of a single vehicle injury crash.

Officers said a 2021 Toyota Rav 4 was reportedly traveling south on 72nd St. A witness told the officers that the vehicle reportedly ran the red light, veered to the right, and crashed into the concrete base of the traffic signal at Pine St.

According to authorities, the driver 46-year-old Mario Louis of Omaha. Louis was the only person in the vehicle and was transported to a nearby hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

The crash is currently being investigated.
