Growth Fund grant approved for porch
NCTC headquarters approved for new entryway with historic look
NEBRASKA CITY – City commissioners approved a $17,400 grant from Growth Funds to help repair the porch on a historical house that is the headquarters of Nebraska City Tourism and Commerce.
The project includes removing the porch piece by piece and replacing worn out segments with new construction. Original pieces will be used in the reconstruction in keeping with the historical designation of the Taylor-Shewell-Gilligan House.

The Nebraska State Historical Foundation says the brick house was constructed in 1882.
Don White of Tarkio, Mo., said the 806 Historical Preservation Foundation will pay the other half of the project costs.
