FALLS CITY – A district judge handed down sentences in Richardson County Tuesday on marijuana and assault convictions.

Johnny Shafer, 53, of Hennepin, Okla., was sentenced to two years probation for possession of over a pound of marijuana in November of 2021.

A state trooper found two large bags and one smaller bag of marijuana in the trunk of the car Shafer was driving  on Highway 75.

Jesse Rosenberger, 39, of Hiawatha, Kan., was sentenced to time served of six days and fined $375 for attempted possession of marijuana in February.

Justin Adams, 41, of Auburn was sentenced to probation Tuesday for misdemeanor domestic assault in July of 2021.

A Richardson County sheriff’s deputy arrested Adams after his girlfriend described an attack while she and Adams were fishing on the riverbank near Indian Cave State Park.

David Ward, 41, of Humboldt was sentenced to time served of three days in jail for child abuse in February.

A Richardson County sheriff’s deputy arrested Ward after a 12-year-old boy’s stepmother reported that the boy had been mistreated at a Humboldt apartment.
