SIDNEY – Fremont County Sheriff Kevin Aistrope reports the arrest of a man who threatened to kill three campers  at the Fremont County campgrounds south of Sidney, Iowa, on Friday.

A sheriff’s office press release says the man fled into a wooded area prior to deputies arrival. A search included the Fremont County Golf Course and deputies posted a photo to Facebook regarding the search for a 56-year-old man.

The sheriff says Jeffrey Bloomfield was arrested Saturday after returning to the golf course area. He is suspected of burglary, interference with official acts and harassment.

The Mills County Sheriff’s Office, Mills County K9, Shenandoah K9 Unit, Iowa State Patrol, Iowa Department of Natural Resources and Sidney Fire Department drone team assisted with the case.

The sheriff says a search of Bloomfield’s person uncovered property stolen from a residence in Sidney.
