High-speed chase ends in Nebraska City
NEBRASKA CITY – Police report two arrests Saturday in an incident that started with a couple’s fight at the Taco Bell on south 11th Street and included a high speed chase.
Police say the couple had a physical fight at the restaurant. The woman was injured when the man left the location in the car. An Otoe County sheriff’s deputy attempted a traffic stop, reporting the car traveling at 120 mph at Paul on Highway 128.
The car turned onto Highway 75 and headed back to Nebraska City at reported speeds of 94 mph.
Police used spike strips near Jade Road and punctured three tires. The car continued and accidentally struck a nearby police cruiser at the south intersection.
The car made it into the Orschlen’s parking lot on sparking rims.
The woman had avoided police during this time.
Police say after 41-year-old Justin Lobato of Lincoln was taken into custody, illegal drugs were found in the car.
Police searched for the woman and arrested her on a possession charge.
Lobato is suspected of operating a motor vehicle to avoid arrest, leaving the scene of an accident, assault on an officer, resisting arrest and possession. Police say the car had Kansas plates on it, but had been reported stolen.
Also over the weekend, sheriff’s deputies responded to a lost boy at Love’s Travel Center and a missing man from a 63rd Road residence.
