NEBRASKA CITY – Two new cases alleging threats and violence against women have been filed in Otoe County.

David Snyder, 66, is suspected of child abuse and use of a firearm to commit a felony on July 17.

An arrest affidavit says police were told that Snyder was frustrated over traffic while trying to back a boat and trailer at a Fifth Corso residence.

He is suspected of getting out of the truck, throwing his phone down and shooting at it four times, while his 17-year-old daughter and her boyfriend were in the yard.

The affidavit says he is also accused of slapping his daughter after she went into the house to pack with the intention of leaving.

Ralph Spidell, 36, of Nebraska City is charged with felony violation of a protection order.

Court records say a protection order prohibited Spidell from contacting a woman, but an arrest affidavit says the woman received a call from Spidell while police were present. The woman also says Spidell drove by her residence shortly before the call.

Court records say Spidell was convicted of a protection order violation in 2011.
