19-year-old motorcyclist killed in Sarpy County crash
OMAHA, Neb. -- A 19-year-old motorcyclist was killed in a crash in Sarpy County on Thursday.
Authorities responded to the intersection of Highway 50 and Chandler Road shortly after 2:30 p.m. The Sarpy County Sheriff's Office says a motorcycle driven by 19-year-old Joshua Hoffart, of Omaha, was traveling northbound on Highway 50, while a Toyota truck was southbound on the same highway.
Lt. James Wrigley says the truck was turning left onto Chandler Road just before the collision.
Hoffart was taken to Bergan Mercy Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The 43-year-old driver of the Toyota was uninjured.
Highway 50 northbound from Giles Rd to the intersection of Hwy 50 and Chandler Rd was closed for approximately one hour while the South Metro Crash Response Team investigated the scene.
