Fatal crash in Omaha, one injured and one dead
The Omaha Police Department is investigating a fatal car crash at Rose Blumkin Drive and Dodge Street on June 26.
OMAHA, Neb. -- The Omaha Police Department is investigating a fatal car crash at Rose Blumkin Drive and Dodge Street on June 26.
OPD said police were sent to Rose Blumkin Drive and Dodge Street around 9:00 p.m. following an accident.
The report said investigators found that a silver Audi A4 that was driven by 24-year-old Michael Packett was traveling eastbound on Dodge Street near 76th Street at a high rate of speed.
Authorities said the Audi collided with a silver 2012 Nissan Sentra that was driven by 44-year-old Gina McKenna, who was traveling southbound.
According to officials, the collision forced the Nissan into a wooden pole on the south side of Dodge and then caught fire.
The report said McKenna was declared dead at the scene and a passenger in Packett's vehicle was transported to a nearby hospital with a non-life threatening injury.
OPD said Packett was booked at Douglas County Corrections for motor vehicle homicide - DUI.
