NEBRASKA CITY – River Country will celebrate Independence Day this July with music, parades and patriotism.


Auburn Summer Sounds will feature the Southeast Community Band and the Nemaha County & Area Choir on Friday, July 1, at Auburn Legion Memorial Park from 7 to 9 p.m.


Nebraska City is hosting the Treestock music festival on Saturday, July 2, with events Sunday and Monday, July 4. Steinhart Park will host a carnival and fireworks on Saturday and a car show on Sunday.

Treestock will feature live music from Sheila Greenland, Mike Semrad & The Riverhawks, Bolzen Beer Band and The Wildwoods.

Other Sunday activities include a community worship service and the Pancake Man. Monday activities include legion baseball and golf scramble.


The Brownville Freedom Celebration is scheduled Monday, July 4.

The event is highlighted by a freedom run, dog show, parade, patriotic program and fireworks cruise on the Spirit of Brownville.


The Murray Freedom Festival on July 4th features a 5K run, oozeball, car show, parade and fireworks display.


The Tecumseh Community Club is taking donations for a return of a fireworks display this year. Check in with Bruce Dalluge.


The  Auburn Eagles will present a fireworks show at Irvin Park and the Auburn High School at 10 p.m. on the Fourth of July.


Brownville Freedom Festival schedule

  • 7 a.m. – freedom run
  • 8 am. – Breakfast at town hall
  • 8:30 a.m. – Quilts of Valor presentation by Blue Star Mothers at town hall
  • 9 a.m. – Strut Your Mutt Dog Show, town hall
  • 10 a.m. – Parade, followed by children’s activities, patriotic program and Brownville museum.
  • 11:30 a.m. – Nemaha Volunteer Rescue lunch at town hall
  • 1 p.m. – Tom and Rox folk and country in Schoolhouse Art Gallery
  • 2 p.m. – Southeast Community Band
  • 3 p.m. – Riverboat ride
  • 8 p.m. – boarding for fireworks cruise aboard the Spirit of Brownville
