Fourty-five Bobcat student athletes named to the 2021-22 Heart Scholar-Athletes
(Peru, Neb.)—On Wednesday, June 22, the Heart of America Athletic Conference announced that 1,051 student-athletes were honored for their academic achievements.
"Grand View led the way for the conference with 139 honorees. Graceland was second with 133 and Baker was third with 95 award winners," per the Heart's release.
The 14 institutions plus Iowa Wesleyan for wrestling averaged 70.06 honorees.
The Criteria for a student athlete to become a Heart Scholar-Athlete are as follows:
- Cumulative GPA of 3.4 or higher (on a 4.0 scale).
- Accumulated a minimum of 60 credit hours, completed at least five semesters and attended the nominating institution for at least two semesters prior to being nominated.
- Have documentation of the student-athlete participating in a varsity competition in the sport for which they are being nominated for.
- Student-Athletes competing as graduate students are also eligible for this award.
