Man injured in Cass County crash

OMAHA, Neb. -- An Omaha man is recovering after a plane crash in southeast Nebraska,

The Cass County Sheriff's office said it happened Sunday.

Dispatch received a call from the Air Force Rescue Coordination Center about a missing plane that may have possibly crashed earlier that day.

The original location given was in the area of Highway 66 and 120th Street.

Deputies then received another possible location near 84th Street and McKelvie Road.

Later, dispatch got a call from a man who identified himself as the missing pilot and said that his plane had crashed near the Missouri River.

On arrival, rescue crews found the pilot, 50-year-old Eric Stadjuhar of Omaha, at a nearby home.

He told deputies he had experienced engine trouble prior to crashing into the trees on a bluff.

Stadjuhar sustained facial and back injuries in the crash.

The incident is under investigation.
