Peru State cross country signs Lydia Lang for the 2022-23 season
(Peru, Neb.)—Earlier this spring Peru State cross country head coach James Cole signed Lydia Lang for the upcoming 2022-23 season. Lang is from Palmyra, Nebraska and attended Palmyra High School.
Lang is the daughter of Matthew and Pamela Lang. She plans to study K-12 Art Education while attending Peru State College. Lang has a myriad of athletic and academic achievements. She was on the 2021 District Championship Team, 2021 State Individual Qualifier, and 2020 State Qualifying Team. Academically she was awarded the NSAA Academic All-State Award three times, High Honor Roll four times, National Honor Society two times and is a Peru State College Board of Trustees Scholar.
Here is what head coach James Cole had to say about Lang…
"No pressure to Lydia but facts are facts and when you look at our recruits' senior year cross country times, hers are the strongest," said Cole. "She was able to consistently break 23:00 for the 5k distance towards the end of her senior year and helped her team qualify for state both her junior and senior years."
"Lydia's academic success has earned her a Board of Trustees scholarship at Peru State College. I've met with Lydia and her parents a couple times and know that Lydia has the tools to succeed at Peru and represent the school well. I look forward to her joining the college and our team this fall."
