OMAHA- Falls City junior RaeAnn Thompson found her way back to the first place podium in the 100m dash for the second straight year. This year, however, in historic fashion.

Thompson reached the Class B Track and Field State Championship final run after coming in second place overall in the preliminary round on Wednesday with a time of 12.33. Thompson trailed Beatrice senior Morgan Mahoney by 0.03 for the opening round.

Headed into the finals, Thompson began the race in lane three, slotted right next to Mahoney. Thompson was out of the block fast, and through the finish line even faster. The junior flew by the competition and posted a new meet record for Class B. Thompson shaved off three-tenths of a second to take home first place in the 100m dash with a time of 12.03.

Second place finish was Bennington's Kennedy Wade with a time of 12.18.

Thompson placed second in the 200m dash with a time of 25.15, only behind a record breaking performance by Bennington's Kennedy Wade 24.71
