Syracuse's Kennedy Stanley wins gold at state

OMAHA- After dominating in Districts, Syracuse senior Kennedy Stanley followed up her pole vaulting performance with a gold medal and 10 team points at the Class B State Track and Field Championships on Wednesday.
Stanley took first place in Districts with 11-06.00. The next highest was Elkhorn North senior Savannah Bishop with 10-10.00. Stanley headed to the state championships as the favorite to take first.
At the state championships, Stanley was neck and neck with Beatrice senior Madeline Swanson. The two were able to match each jump until the final. Swanson reached 11-06.00, but only after two previous attempts. Stanley reached the 11-06.00 mark on the first jump. That was the deciding factor between the two.
Stanley was crowned the Class B pole vault state champion with her 11-06.00 jump. She netted the Syracuse Rockets ten team points with the event.
