OMAHA, Neb. -- The candidates are set for the November race for Nebraska's second-district seat in the U.S. House of Representatives.

State Sen. Tony Vargas claimed a convincing win over Omaha mental health practitioner Alisha Shelton in the Democratic primary. Vargas 

Vargas produced a winning margin of 69% to 31%.

Vargas advances to take three-term incumbent Rep. Don Bacon, who withstood a barrage of attacks to garner the Republican nomination. Former President Donald Trump endorsed Steve Kuehl, but Bacon produced a convincing 77%-to-23% margin of victory.
