(Peru, Neb.)—On Saturday, April 16, Peru State Head Baseball Coach Wayne Albury won his 800th career game against William Penn in dramatic fashion. The Bobcats and Statesmen went into extra innings as the game was tied at 0 in a pitcher's duel.
 
Garrett Pavletich (Bakersfield, Calif.) hit a walk off single as Xavier Wright (Calumet City, Ill.) came into score to secure the 1-0 victory. The coaches and players all came and encircled Albury as the team celebrated the 800th win.
 
Coach Albury is in his 28th year of coaching he is now 801-625-2 all time. He came to Peru State in 2010 and has 290 victories with the Bobcats he did have a one-year break in his tenure.
 
 He picked up his 600th and 700th win while also coaching at Peru State. Coach Albury's 600th win came back on March 11, 2014, and his 700th win came on February 19, 2018. Coach Albury is now the winningest coach in Peru State history.
 
Under the direction of Coach Albury, the Bobcats won the Heart of America Tournament in the 2015 season and qualified for the NAIA national tournament.
 
Peru State is currently 18-22 overall and 16-6 in Heart conference play and they are atop the Heart North division heading into the home stretch of the season.
