Nebraska City's trash bills will rise four percent

NEBRASKA CITY - The Nebraska City City Council is scheduled to meet at 6 p.m. on April 18.

The agenda includes the Arbor Day proclamation and public hearings on rezoning for 301 4th Corso, 6543 J Road and a Growth Fund loan to Nebraska Vegetable & Protein at 750 S 64th Rd.

American Recycling & Sanitation proposes a four percent increase to its residential pricing.

A trail project agreement with the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission is also on the agenda.

NCTC proposes using the sunken parking lot for seven Saturdays June 2-July 21 for the summer Saturday film series. The line up starts with The Boss Baby – Family Business on June 4 and concludes July 30 with Rock Dog 2 Around the Park.

The city is asked to waive the sidewalk obstruction permits during the festival weekend.

Nebraska Vegetable & Protein is proposing use of $200,000 in Growth Funds at 750 S. 64th Rd. The company would qualify for forgiveness of $10,000 for every $50,000 of gross annual payroll for employees.

The city administrator’s report says the city has begun training of a new parks and recreation director.

Tree City Trails has raised $235,000 in local donations and another $145,000 pledged to the trail system and the Nebraska Game and Parks grant is up to $250,000. The proposed trail project, from the North Table Creek bridge on 11th Street to the softball complex, would cost $443,014.

The city agrees to maintain the trail for 25 years.

American Recycling & Sanitation reports rising expenses for employee wages, fuel and landfill rates and reports a 4 percent increase in charges to Nebraska City customers beginning Sept. 1.
