April 12 storm

A line of thunderstorms fanned up wildfires and triggered tornado warnings for  Nemaha County in Nebraska and Mills County, Iowa, Tuesday night.

Nemaha County Emergency Management said spotters were out and were not able to verify tornadic activity as indicated by radar.

Emergency Management in Johnson County reported one inch hail at 9:38 p.m.

There were several wildfires in front of the storm front. A rekindle of the D Road fire north of Dunbar was reported, as well as a fire near Riverview Marina at Nebraska City.

A fire at the Brownville Park was reported at 9:41 p.m., just minutes after the storm southeast of Johnson triggered the tornado warning.

OPPD reported over 80 power outages in Johnson County.

9:25 p.m. – NWS issues severe thunderstorm warning for Fremont County, Mills County, NE Otoe County, Johnson County, Richardson County and Pawenee County.

9:19 p.m. – Wind damage reported to tress and roofs in Unadilla.

9:09 p.m. – Severe thunderstorm remains in effect until 9:30 p.m. for southern Fremont County , Johnson County, Nemaha County, SE Otoe County , western Richardson and Pawnee counties.

9:01 p.m. – NWS issues severe thunderstorm warning for Fremont and NE Otoe County with max wind gusts registering at 70 mph. The storm is moving east towards Nebraska City at 40 mph.

8:43 p.m. – OPPD reports 66 power outages in Johnson County

8:43 p.m. – NWS issues thunderstorm warning for southern Fremont County, Johnson County, Nemaha, SE Otoe and Pawnee counties. Thunderstorms located south of Avoca to Tecumseh moving east at 40 mph. Expected to be at Nebraska City at 8:55 p.m.

8:37 p.m. – Tornado warning. Mills county, NE Sarpy County

8:37 p.m. – Thunderstorms located at Syracuse moving east at 35 mph. NWS issues thunderstorm warning for NW Otoe County. 60 mph winds possible.

 

8:24 p.m. – NWS reporting upper atmosphere circulation in line of storms from Plattsmouth to Beatrice.

8:24 – Nebraska 511 reporting winds of 30 mph but normal driving conditions on Highway 75 from the Kansas border to Dawson.

8:17 – Thunderstorm warning for Otoe, Pawnee, Johnson counties

8:17 p.m. – OPPD reports 348 power outages in Saunders County

8:13 p.m. – fire in trees and grass west of city wells near the marina.

8:09 - Rekindle of wildfire north of Dunbar on D Road

7:58 p.m. – Severe thunderstorm waring for Gage, Johnson, Lancaster, Otoe and Saline counties.

7:58 p.m. – 68 mph wind in Fillmore County

7:51 - .88 inch hail near Seward.

6:24 p.m. – tornado reported in Pocahantas, Iowa.

6:21 p.m. – blowing dust advisory issued for 24 Nebraska counties from Kearney to Fairbury.

5:35 p.m. – Nebraska City airport reports wind gust of 54 mph and sustained winds of 39. The temperature rose from 39 degrees at 5:15 a.m. Monday to 50 degrees Tuesday morning and 90 degrees by 5:15 p.m.

3:46 p.m. – 58 mph winds reported in Fillmore County near Shickley.

3:38 p.m. – Tornado watch for Boone, Butler, Jefferson, Platte, Saline and Seward counties.

3:28 p.m. – Wind advisory issued for Cass and Otoe counties.
