Nebraska City - Five runs batted in from Zach Tesarek helped lead the Nebraska City Pioneers baseball team past Omaha North 13-3 on Saturday.  Nebraska City had their second highest scoring output of the year as they dispatched of the Vikings in a run rule victory.  


Pioneer starting pitcher Sloan Pelican would hold the Vikings scoreless for the first two innings of the game when the Pioneer offense would get going in the bottom of the second with an RBI double by Bayler Poston would score Cael Kreifel and Nolan Beccard that would give the Pioneers a 2-0 lead.  Tesarek would then come to the plate with two outs and Poston at third base when he would launch his first home run on a 2-1 count over the left field wall to give the Pioneers a 4-0 lead after 2 innings.  

The Vikings would respond with 3 runs in the top of the third inning on a Cody Markham walk and a Garrett Cox double to close the Pioneer lead to 4-3.  In the bottom of the third, Bayler Poston would hit a double with the bases loaded and score Kreifel, Beccard and Miles Draus.  After a Ryan Bohling walk, Tesarek would once again come to the plate and blast a shot over the left field fence that would score Poston and Bohling and would give the Pioneers a 10-3 lead.  The Pioneers would add 3 runs in the bottom of the 5th inning on a singles by Keston Holman, Pelican and Colton Snyder that would end the ball game due to the run rule and take home a 13-3 victory. 

Offensively for the Pioneers, they scored 13 runs on 12 hits and were led by Tesarek, who went 2 for 3 with 2 home runs and 5 RBI and 3 runs scored.  Bayler Poston was also a star at the plate going 2 for 3 with 2 doubles with 5 RBI and 2 runs scored.  Sloan Pelican also had 3 hits with 1 RBI.  Also drawing hits for the Pioneers were Keston Holman, Colton Snyder, Tristan Kingery, Zac Hawley and Kade Davis.  

Sloan Pelican got the complete game victory for the Pioneers on the mound.  He would throw 5 innings, giving up 2 earned runs with 4 strikeouts and 2 base on balls.  Reggie York took the loss for the Vikings.  

The victory for the Pioneers was their 5th victory in their last 6 games and evens their record at 5-5 on the season after starting the season 0-4.  The Pioneers will next be in action as they travel to Springfield to take on Platteview to start the Trailblazer Conference tournament.
