Judge orders GED as part of probation
Scheitel pleas with young drug offender to take probation seriously
FALLS CITY – The deputy Richardson County attorney appealed to an 18-year-old drug offender Monday to consider his probation sentence as an opportunity for change.
Trey Carter, who turned 19 one day after sentencing, was ordered to an 18-month probation term for misdemeanor attempted possession on Nov.9.
At sentencing, prosecutor Samantha Scheitel said Carter has a previous probation and needs probation services still.
Scheitel: “He needs to take it seriously or the future won’t be so bright for him.”
As a term of his probation, Judge Julie Smith ordered Carter to obtain his GED.
