Snyder ordered to misdemeanor probation

NEBRASKA CITY – The district court maintained the presumption of probation in a case against Bonnie Snyder, 19, of Nebraska City.
Snyder was arrested after Otoe County sheriff’s deputies searched an apartment in downtown Nebraska City. Court records say 11.3 grams of meth was found in the living room and 1.5 grams found in a bedroom with psilocybin mushrooms. More meth and two firearms were found in a safe.
The search warrant was issued to officers investigating a stolen vehicle report, which was found near the apartment building at 105 N. 10th Street.
Two Nebraska City residents were arrested in a car parked near downtown. Court records say the key to the stolen vehicle were found in the car.
A fourth suspect was arrested in the apartment with Snyder.
Otoe County Attorney Jennifer Panko-Rahe said charges against Snyder were dropped from felony possession of over 10 grams to misdemeanor attempted possession in October of 2021. She previously served 21 days in jail and defense attorney Julie Bear noted her full-time job and treatment progress.
Judge Julie Smith said she can revoke a misdemeanor probation sentence even if Snyder does not commit another crime. She said the probation will be revoked if Snyder fails to testify truthfully, if subpoenaed in other cases.
