FALLS CITY - Keith Ferris, 37, of Lincoln was sentenced to two years probation for theft in March of 2021, delivery of methamphetamine in September of 2019.

Falls City police say a traffic stop of Ferris’ Camaro led to impoundment and discovery of 5.6 grams of meth. Police used the incident to obtain a search warrant for a Harlan Street residence, where they reported finding meth in the basement.

Ferris was charged with theft after a four-wheeler was reported missing in Richardson County.

A judge upheld the investigative process in the case which included impounding Ferris' vehicle due to an insurance violation, finding meth during an inventory search and using that information for a warrant on the Falls City residence.

Ferris argued the impoundment search was not constitutional because he was not given opportunity to stop the search of containers within the car. The judge ruled that Ferris voluntarily left the car with police.
