Falls City considers TextMyGov

App would allow city to text smartphone users and allow citizens to report issues

FALLS CITY – The Falls City City Council is scheduled to meet at 6 p.m. on March 7.

The agenda includes the Falls City ambulance spaghetti feed, hiring of a sixth 911 dispatcher, TextMyGov texting platform and EMC OnCall Nurse Program.

The Falls City Ambulance proposes a spaghetti feed on Sept. 18.

Jeromie Brown of Appleoff Street requests removal of parking spots or a stop sign to improve visibility at the 15th and Chase streets.

Stonebrook Exterior is asking to close a portion of 17th Street for a month beginning March 14 for roof repairs.

TextMyGov allows city government to send text messages to smartphone users to provide details on items such as garbage pickup, utility payments and news about city events.

Citizens can also text city government to report potholes, drainage problems, nuisance issues.

The city would place the Text My Gov widget on its webpage.  It will also answer citizen questions with keywords such as festival, parking and meeting.

There is an annual fee of $3,800 on a two-year contract and a one-time set up fee of $1,900. An additional 100,000 text messages cost $750.

SeeClickFix also uses apps to improve communications between city government and smartphone users.
