Open gas line fuels fire at Tecumseh mobile home
Firefighters prevent blaze from spreading in trailer park
TECUSMEH – Tecumseh firefighters encountered a dangerous situation Thursday when fire from a ruptured gas line was burning like a torch through a mobile home.
Assistant Fire Chief Jared Schuster said the trailer was fully involved in flames when he arrived and the gas line had blown.
Schuster: “The whole underneath side of the trailer, where the gas line was running now, the whole trailer was engulfed with fire when we got there.”
Tecumseh utilities assisted firefighters in shutting off the source of gas and fire department volunteers worked to keep the fire from spreading to other mobile homes closely situation nearby.
Schuster: “That was our main goal was to just keep other buildings around it cool so we didn’t lose it into other trailers there.”
He said the occupants of the mobile home were not at home at the time of the fire.
