Shenandoah bowling rolls its way to state title
The Mustangs had to rally back after losing consecutive games in the quarterfinals before ultimately winning the championship.
SHENANDOAH, Iowa - The Shenandoah Mustangs boys bowling team outlasted seven other schools en route to the Iowa Class 1A State Championship on Monday.
Shenandoah defeated the Louisa-Muscatine Falcons 3-2 in the finals of the five-game championship series. Louisa-Muscatine won the first game 212-200 before Shenandoah won games two and three.
The Falcons then won game four, 210-207, setting up the pivotal game five. The Mustangs edged the Falcons 181-175 in the final game to earn the title.
Shenandoah entered the state tournament as the No. 5 seed and defeated Maquoketa 3-2 in the opening round. The Mustangs then beat Camanche 3-1 in the semifinals to advance to the championship round.
