OMAHA, Neb. -- The civil trial is underway for those impacted by the explosion and fire in Omaha's Old Market in January of 2016.

The Old Market fire started with an explosion. Minutes before that, a number of people inside M's Pub said they smelled gas, as did those who lived above the restaurant.

Firefighters have said they could have stopped the fire if not for the constant fuel source. The gas kept pouring into the basement of the historic building.

The civil trial related to who is responsible for damages is expected to last two weeks.
