Fatal Cass County officer-involved shooting

LINCOLN, Neb. -- The Nebraska State Patrol is investigating an officer-involved shooting Sunday.
The NSP said they are investigating an officer-involved shooting that involved the Cass County Sheriff's office.
Authorities said that the incident occurred late Sunday evening in Alvo, Neb.
NSP officials said that around 11 p.m. Sunday night, they were informed that Cass County deputies were responding to a report of an assault.
The NSP said that the initial report was of an altercation between a father and son where the son struck his father in the head.
Authorities said that the father exited the residence and called 911.
Officials said that Cass County deputies responded to the scene and contacted the son, identified as 34-year-old Andrew Stratton.
The NSP said that Stratton was believed to be in the basement of the residence and possibly armed.
NSP officials said that during the negotiations, a deputy fired his weapon which struck Stratton.
Authorities said that a trooper arrived on the scene moments before and heard gunshots from outside the residence.
It was reported that the trooper rushed inside and attempted life-saving measures, along with the deputies, but Stratton ultimately succumbed to his injuries.
Officials said that Stratton was dead at the scene. Investigators located a bow and arrow along with a long knife at the scene.
The NSP Investigations Team is investigating the incident.
