AUBURN -  The Auburn City Council postponed discussion on its pit bull ordinance at its Jan. 10 meeting.

City Councilman Tom Clark offered his support for an ordinance calling a pit bull an unpredictable animal.

The council briefly questioned the definition of pit bull before the issue was set aside for a future meeting.

A 2022 ordinance requires pit bulls to be registered and leashed or muzzled. There are provisions for dogs that pass the Nebraska Humane Society canine good citizenship test.

Violations  would result in the removal of the animal from the city, if the ordinance is passed.
