PALMYRA, Neb. -- A heavy police presence has been reported in a southeast Nebraska town Wednesday morning.

The Otoe County Sheriff's Office says deputies had been outside a home in Palmyra since before 4:00 a.m. Wednesday responding to a domestic violence situation.

Authorities say the other person had gotten out of the home and deputies were negotiating with the man inside.

Palmyra Junior/Senior High School, located nearby, went into "secure mode."

Deputies said the man had weapons inside the home.

The Nebraska State Patrol is also on the scene.
