Storm threatens Falls City water supply
County declares state of emergency
FALLS CITY - Richardson County commissioners declared a state of emergency Thursday after high winds damaged the a water facility.
County officials are concerned about the water supply to Falls City and Falls City rural water customers because the wind blew the metal roof off of the water treatment plant at Rulo.
The detached roof blew into the tower where a number of controls for the water plant are housed.
The county has asked for two truck-loads of bottled water from the American Red Cross and are asking customers to conserve water now.
The damage report includes power poles snapped and an interruption in the OPPD feed. Falls City was generating its own power Thursday.
