NEBRASKA CITY – The Nebraska City Airport is showing wind gusts of 30 mph overnight and sustain wind speeds over 20 mph for most of the morning.

Assistant Manager Brennan Gress said information about wind speed and direction is important to pilots.

Gress: “It affects the pilots. The more turbulence, the more problems for them. Oftentimes it lessens traffic for sure.”

Gress said heavier planes do better in strong wind that lighter craft that would typically use the Nebraska City runway.

With sustained winds for hours and forecasts of wind gusts in excess of 50 mph, pilots are planning to lay low.

Gress: “There’s nothing scheduled today.”
