SHUBERT – Indian Cave State Park is hosting the Christmas Bird Count on Thursday, Dec. 30.

Participants  will meet at the park office at 9 a.m. A free soup feed is scheduled at noon.

Kids will have opportunity for a craft before the bird count begins and after the noon meal.

The Christmas Bird Count is a citizen scientist project organized by the National Audubon Society. Bird counters in many countries of the Western Hemisphere report birds they see or hear over a 24-hour period.

The count includes the surrounding area including the towns of Shubert, Stella, Nemaha, Barada and Verdon.
