Police plan no-excuse approach to seat belt enforcement
NEBRASKA CITY – The Nebraska City Police Department is participating in the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s national Click it or Ticket enforcement from Nov. 24 to Nov. 28.
According to the Nebraska Department of Transportation, there were 132 unbuckled passengers killed in Nebraska in 2020. In comparison with other states, Nebraska has the fourth worst observed seat belt usage in the United States.
A police press release says officers will take a no-excuses approach to seat belt law enforcement. In Nebraska, the maximum penalty for a seat belt violation is a $25 fine.
