Davis resigns from city council

NEBRASKA CITY – Nebraska City Mayor Bryan Bequette is charged with filling a vacant spot on the Nebraska City City Commission following the resignation of Paul Davis.
Davis informed city commissioners on Oct. 5 with an e-mail making his resignation effective on Halloween.
He said he will be working at Menards in Sioux City and will be moving out of town.
By statute, Mayor Bryan Bequette has the duty of appointing someone to fill three years of Davis’s unexpired term as public works commissioner.
The resignation is not on today’s city commission agenda.
Here is commissioner Davis’ e-mail.
All,
I am writing this email to inform all of you that I am resigning from my position as Public Works Commissioner effective October 31.
I have excepted a position with Menards in Sioux City. Me and my family will be moving up there this month.
I want to thank all of you for this opportunity to serve Nebraska City with you. I believe that we have gotten Nebraska City headed in the right direction. It has been a pleasure to serve with all of you. Nebraska City will always hold a special place in my heart and I will continue to promote it always.
Thank You
Paul Davis
