Pioneers on the Move at elementary schools
NEBRASKA CITY -- Nebraska City kindergarten through fifth graders ran, hopped, and cha-cha’d their way around the playground Friday to celebrate reaching their fundraising goal.

Michelle Maybee of the Nebraska City PTO said students are invited to traverse 35 laps in 35 minutes with high-fives, friends and dance moves.
Maybee: “Students went out and got pledges per lap or flat donations to help raise funds for our school, for educational items for the school and teacher grants to help out our school for this school year and any other items that are needed.”
The school met its $20,000 goal, which means more excitement ahead for principals Scot Davis and Brent Gaswick.

Gaswick: “I hear that I’m going to have slime poured over my head. I’m not quite sure what that means yet, so we’ll have to see. I’m not sure if it’s going to be the Nickelodeon bucket style or just a little slime, but I know they’re excited about it.”

Maybee: “We actually exceeded our goal thanks to our students and their families, so, once we have a day set, we will let all of our families know, so we will actually video it. I’m sure we’ll have it live on our Facebook page. We will actually slime both of the principals from the Northside and the Hayward schools. The kids are very excited to get to slime their principals.”
Students at Northside ran their 35 laps in about half of the allotted time, some look ahead to slime in prime time.
