NEBRASKA CITY – Nebraska City commissioners are scheduled to meet at 6 p.m. on Oct. 4.

The agenda includes application for a county keno grant to develop a nine-hole Frisbee golf course in Wildwood Park, the 2022 asphalt overlay and a new ambulance.

The commission will consider plat services for an area of Sixth Street and Seventh Corso and an agreement with Bird Rides for shared mobility devices.

Recreation Director Scooter Edmisten proposes an application for a $6,500 keno grant from the Otoe County Board to develop the disc golf course.

JEO proposes $44,500 for design and construction services for the 2022 asphalt overlay, which is estimated at $314,000.

The overlay will include portions of Centennial Avenue and 14th Street from 13th Street to 14th avenue. The one-year plan also includes work on 19th Street and South Table Creek bank stabilization.

Paramedic Manager Andrew Snodgrass proposes a $300,000 ambulance for 2023. The last ambulance was purchased by the Wirth Foundation for $276,000.

EMS also seeks authority to apply for a grant through Firehouse Subs up to $20,000 for two Lucas devices.

City Administrator Lou Leone reports on work to settle right-of-way issues with the Nebraska Railroad Museum.

Since the 1870s, the city granted access to the city-owned right of ways for use by railroad companies. In 2021, BNSF donated a section along the historic Burlington Northern depot on south Sixth Street to the railroad museum.

Leone said the city is working on having the right of ways returned to the city.

The city proposes hiring Olsson to research and place boundary markers.

Bird Rides is the only company responding to Nebraska City’s request for qualifications for shared mobility services within the city. A franchise fee of $300 is proposed.
