NEBRASKA CITY - The award-winning American folk band Jack Hotel opened the 2021 Treestock at Steinhart Park Saturday to open Nebraska City's  Independence Day  celebration.

Bandleader Gunter Voelker, who highlights the band's storytelling sensibility, reminded the audience there is still plenty of shade at Steinhart Park.

Bethel Church is hosting a family fun day with bounce house, tent and dunk tank across the street.

NCTC is sponsoring cornhole play and a beer garden.

Lucas Minor is scheduled at 3 p.m., followed by Mike Semrad and The River Hawks at 5 p.m.

Hector Anchondo takes the stage at 7 p.m.
